Figgy Puddings announce Families for Children as thier charity of the year
Families for Children are delighted to be the nominated as charity of the year by Figgy Puddings based in Devon.
The Business husband and wife team Richie and Jo Evans, (plus two rapidly growing helpers) have always made their own Christmas Puddings, and often gave them as Christmas presents for friends and family.
They received such glowing feedback that they decided to sell them, starting with just a hundred puddings which quickly sold out.
They have now been making and selling award winning Christmas Puddings for over ten years and have customers all over the UK and Europe. They still hand make, wrap and dispatch all their puddings ourselves, in small batches, so you can be sure you're buying a Christmas pudding that really is just as you'd make yourself at home.
This winter they will be supporting Families for Children at Christmas fairs (selling Christmas cards and shaking collection tins).

Families for Children continue to raise awareness and funds about the work they do with adopted families and children across the South West. As a specialist adoption agency and independent of the Regional Adoption Agency they offer a friendly adoption service which not only includes the adoption assessment but that offers the right support at the right time once a child is placed. Their experienced team of social workers and support workers allows them to be flexible in their approach to support and can respond to family’s individual needs through the adoption process, into placement and right through to the child’s early adulthood.
The Agency stress how important it is for adopters to know they have a workable support plan in place and that there is some where they can go for help however small or large that need may be. Many of the children placed have come from a traumatic start in life and sometimes that history can manifest itself in behavioural and emotional problems as they get older. Whilst in some children these effects are evident immediately and support is offered from the start, for other families it may not be needed until the child reaches puberty or adolescence. Our support service aims to target some of the support regularly needed as well as looking at educating those involved in the process including adopters, schools and wider networks.
The Charity are currently supporting over 120 families with adoption support services. This is only set to grow with the increasing number of children being placed for adoption. The charity has to raise £300000 per year to be able to provide these vital services.
